YEJIN LEE, soprano
Praised by Opera News as a “robust coloratura soprano” and celebrated by Brooklyn Discovery for her “quicksilver quality and truly outstanding theatrical bravura,” soprano Yejin Lee is rapidly establishing herself as a compelling artist on the operatic stage and concert platform.
Ms. Lee’s 2026 season is highlighted by her residency as a Resident Artist at Opera Naples, where she made a highly acclaimed role debut as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in Derrick Wang’s Scalia/Ginsburg. Her season further flourished with a mainstage debut as Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore and a cover of the soulful Liù in Puccini’s Turandot. On the symphonic stage, she recently appeared as the soprano soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, earning praise for her nuanced and luminous interpretation.
Ms. Lee’s extensive repertoire of leading roles includes Gilda (Rigoletto), Zdenka (Arabella), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), La Fée (Cendrillon), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Mukhtar (Thumbprint), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel). She has also performed Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Naiad (Ariadne auf Naxos), Leïla (Les pêcheurs de perles), and covered the title role in La fille du régiment.
On the concert and recital stage, Ms. Lee made a prestigious debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a winner of the New York Lyric Opera Theater Competition. Other notable performances include appearing as Adele in Die Fledermaus for the Martina Arroyo Foundation’s concert broadcast on WQXR, and a solo performance of Kamala Sankaram’s Ololyga at Merkin Recital Hall.
An alumna of several elite training programs, she was an Apprentice Artist at Opera Southwest, where she sang the leading role of Alice in Le Loup-garou, and a Vocal Fellow at the Lakes Area Music Festival. She also participated in the Manetti Shrem Opera Program at Festival Napa Valley in 2025.
Ms. Lee’s excellence has been recognized with numerous accolades, including winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Florida District), first prize in the Opera Connecticut Voice Competition, and first prize in the NATS Competition (Eastern Region).
Yejin Lee holds a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music and an Artist Diploma from Montclair State University. Prior to her studies in the United States, she earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea, where she attended on full academic scholarship. Her early career in Korea was distinguished by top prizes in the Music Education News, Youngsan Music, Korea Herald, and Music Journal competitions.
